Metsäliitto has a certified chain-of-custody in all its wood supply countries. This enables official verification of the share of certified wood in deliveries to Finnforest production units.
Most of Finnforest’s production units have a certified chain-of-custody system, which enables them to apply for the right to use a forest certification label. Today, most Finnforest products actually carry one.
A chain-of-custody certificate can be applied by any body harvesting, transporting, handling or processing forest based products from forest to a final consumer. The chain-of-custody certificate holder must have a wood origin management system in place. The management system needs to fulfil the requirements of the certification standard. A chain-of-custody certificate is granted when the applicant passes a verification audit by a third party, independent certifying body.
