About 95 per cent of the wood used for Finnforest products originates from Finland, mainly from forest holdings of the members of the Metsäliitto Cooperative. The average size of the forest holdings of Metsäliitto’s members is some 40 hectares.
In family forestry, forests are typically inherited from one generation to the next inside the same family. They are cared for and used responsibly, ensuring that each generation receives its fair share of forest income.
Sustainable forest management benefits both the forest industry and forest owners because it guarantees the preservation of forest biodiversity and the steady production of wood raw material.
