By acting responsibly, we want to ensure that our employees, customers, partners and other stakeholder groups are satisfied with our wood products.
Operations governed by values
The common values of Metsäliitto Group – responsible profitability, reliability, cooperation and renewal – lay the foundation for all operations of Finnforest. Responsible profitability indicates the main principles of our business operations. We strive to improve the profitability of our company, while at the same time bearing responsibility for the environment and listening to our stakeholder groups. The other values of the Group – reliability, cooperation and renewal – are the cornerstones of responsible profitability.
- We continuously improve our environmental performance. The key factors of our environmental performance are as follows: maintenance and management of the certified environmental system and the certified chain of custody, maintenance of the energy efficiency system and continuous improvement of energy efficiency, increasing the share of bioenergy, efficient use and open reporting of wood raw material.
- We utilise our raw material efficiently with regard to the use of energy and materials. The wood acquired as raw material is used to the fullest in Metsäliitto Group's value chain. The by-products of Finnforest – wood chips, sawdust and bark – are used as raw material for production plants or bioenergy production.
- We promote the well-being of our personnel and are responsible members of the local community. Well-being, safety and competence at work are core values of profitability.
- Our operations are transparent and we report our results openly, so that the quality of our operations can also be assessed by outsiders.
- We engage in continuous dialogue with our stakeholder groups.
The economic, social and environmental impacts of our operations are measured and regularly reported to stakeholder groups in the annual report, for example.
