Climate programme Metsäliitto’s Climate Programme
Finnforest strives to reduce the climatic impact of its activities, particularly by enhancing its energy efficiency. For this purpose, Metsäliitto Group launched a Climate Programme at the beginning of 2008. The purpose is to find synergies and share best practices in order to reduce the impact of the Group’s production units on climate change. The results achieved so far are very promising. In 2008, Finnforest’s production unit managed to reduce their energy consumption by some 10 per cent.
Continuous development and optimisation of energy efficiency is an increasingly important aspect of Finnforest’s operations. To support management in this area, a certified Energy Efficiency System (EES) will be introduced at all production units by the end of 2009.
