The most important raw material for the wood products industry are logs obtained from sustainably managed forests. The major part of our raw material originates from the PEFC certified private forests of Metsäliitto’s owner-members.
The plywood, laminated veneer lumber and particle board industries also use glues, resins and coating films. Small quantities of chemicals, such as blue stain suppression agents are also used. Plastic, paper, steel strip, plywood and wood are used to pack the finished products.
Our production units are largely self-sufficient in terms of energy. They derive the thermal energy required mainly the co-products of their own production processes, such as bark.
