Ville Valio, a graduate in wood technology, is working as supply chain manager at Vilppula sawmill. He decided to apply for a job at Metsäliitto Wood Products Industry after reading about interesting job openings and career opportunities offered by the company.
”I’m responsible for Vilppula’s sales and deliveries by following the plans drawn up by our business line’s management. The activities of my supply chain team comprise almost all the sawmill’s operations – from the steering of raw material procurement up to invoicing and credit control. My work is very varied and international as most of our customers are located outside Finland,” says Ville.
”What I like most in my work is the independence and variety it gives me, as well as the challenges it poses. Overcoming the challenges and achieving the set targets motivate me to pursue better results. Having a clear sphere of responsibilities encourages me a lot, for example, by getting better results I’m given more independence to show my initiative. In my work, each day is different,” continues Ville.
Before his current job, Ville acquired work experience from various jobs in the mechanical forest industry both in Finland and abroad. He recommends that all young people acquire versatile work experience, e.g. by working as a summer help – as it is an important advantage in job-hunting after graduation.
”In Metsäliitto Wood Products Industry, I find it very positive that the organisation is flat and the staff is relatively young. Our people have diversified backgrounds, experience and education and form a versatile competent community,” explains Ville.
